Most popular TV shows on Apple TV+ this week

Over the last month, Apple TV+ has debuted a wide array of offerings to appease its diverse audience. Scroll through the streaming platform and you'll find popular bio-dramas, adventure stories, dark comedies, and crime thrillers. But the biggest takeaway among this month's most-watched list? Two of Hollywood's most beloved septuagenarian actors have still got it.

March 29 marked the release of "Steve! (Martin) a documentary in 2 pieces," an Apple TV+ retrospective that has been dominating on the platform. From acclaimed director Morgan Neville, the two-part docuseries chronicles the titular white-haired comedian's life using "then" and "now" perspectives. The first half covers Martin's early struggles and then rapid success as a stand-up comic in the 1970s, while the latter half checks in with the now-78-year-old actor and comedian to reflect on his stardom over the last few decades. Still making television (he's currently filming "Only Murders in the Building" Season 4), Martin has remained a cross-generational treasure even in the twilight of his career.

The same might be said of Michael Douglass, who has refused to slow down as he approaches 80 years old. After succeeding in his role as Dr. Hank Pym in three "Ant-Man" movies, he's pivoted to the 18th century (and not the quantum realm, thankfully) to play Benjamin Franklin in the Apple TV+ original "Franklin." In this historical retelling, the famous Revolution-era political figure embarks on a secret mission to France to help the American independence movement. The series, which premiered on April 12 and launches new episodes every Friday, may be acting as a popular tonic in the midst of the election year coverage.
