50 memorable Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson victories

  • 50 memorable Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson victories

Capital One’s "The Match: Champions for Charity" kicks off at 3 p.m. EST Sunday, May 24, on TNT, TBS, truTV, HLN, HLN in Canada, and CNN International. The team pro-am features duos of Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady—each mic'd up for optimal viewer access to all the chatter and trash-talk.

Contested at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, the first nine holes are Four-Ball (Best Ball) format, and the back nine are Modified Alternate Shot. This rare COVID-19 sports distraction also carries the obvious intent of financial goodwill, so along the way, "there will also be a set of on-course challenges to raise additional charitable funds," per the PGA Tour. Also nicknamed Tiger vs. Phil: The Match II, this is the illustrious pair's second head-to-head match play event; though the first, which Lefty won as a slight underdog on Nov. 23, 2018, was a winner-take-all $9 million prize and was broadcast as a pay-per-view. Mickelson and Brady are +160 underdogs this time, while Woods and Manning are the -200 favorites.

To get viewers prepped for this cross-sport charity event with four undeniable legends, Stacker presents a retrospective gallery of Tiger and Phil's most memorable career victories. With 20 combined major wins (Tiger's 15, Phil's five) and an inconceivable 126 total PGA Tour titles (82 and 44 respectively), we curated this list with only 50 of the best based on prestigiousness, postseason implications, and fabled comebacks.

Take this photographic trip down memory lane to get a glimpse of times like Tiger's first win in 1996 and his 2019 season that included both a green jacket and a Presidents Cup as Team USA captain/player. You'll also relive some of Phil's most epic moments like his lone 2013 Open Championship and his World Golf Championships—the most recent at the WGC-Mexico in 2018.

Who will you root for this weekend, and which of these victories is your favorite?
