Most anticipated movies still to come in 2019

Similar to the years preceding it, 2019 has already delivered a spectrum of film styles and genres. Along with Disney's predictable reign of dominance—which extends to its Marvel properties—the first half of the year yielded original hits like "Us" and "Glass." That's joined by the latest "John Wick" installment, which opened to huge numbers and solid reviews. And while the majority of low- to mid-budget fare remains overshadowed by blockbuster sequels and comic book adaptations, most of that fare is usually just a streaming service away.

As far as trends go, 2019 continues to see a new kind of Hollywood taking shape. Still grappling with various accusations of sexism and exclusionism, studios seem to be making more of an effort to spread the love. At this year's Sundance Film Festival, Mindy Kaling's "Late Night" and Gurinder Chadha's "Blinded by the Light" scored major deals, as did movies like Pippa Bianco's "Share" and Lulu Wang's "The Farewell." Meanwhile, talents like Jordan Peele and Awkwafina simply couldn't be hotter than they are right now. If this is a sign of things to come, then the future of cinema does indeed appear to be more diverse than the era it leaves behind.

The best part? 2019 is still underway. Sure, the wait for "Avengers: Endgame" is finally over, but there's still plenty of blockbuster action to come. There's also horror, drama, comedy, a new Tarantino flick, a "Downton Abbey" movie, and Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers in "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," to look forward to. As such, audiences are gearing up for their next potential favorite by way of intensive web search. But what movies are they anticipating the most?

To find out, Stacker took a look at the total amount of Wiki pageviews from March 9 to June 7 for each 2019 film listed on Wikipedia. From there, we compiled a list of the top 50 2019 movies with the most Wiki pageviews, results ranked from least pageviews to the most. As one can probably guess, big-budget installments racked up tons of clicks and search requests—but that doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of surprises in store. From a sequel to "The Shining" to a Playmobil adventure to everything in between, here are the most anticipated movies still to come in 2019.
