Workplace sexual harassment in every state

  • Workplace sexual harassment in every state

Recent revelations of sexual harassment in Hollywood, news, politics and other industries have brought a new level of exposure to workplace harassment in 2017. But as allegations build against central industry figures like Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, and Roy Moore, it remains to be seen how these high-profile accusations will translate into meaningful changes for everyday Americans.

In an effort to help understand how sexual harassment varies from state-to-state, MSN conducted a poll that asked readers across the country whether they had experienced or witnessed sexual harassment at work, paired with questions on their perspective on employer efforts to curb harassment. Raw results of the MSN Poll results were analyzed to model how demographic groups answered each question from which answers are modeled and then projected onto the true distribution of the demographic groups. The method was tested in the 2016 election and proven to be as accurate as other polling methods - more details on MSN polling methodology can be found here.

The following helps offer a state-by-state look at the prevalence of sexual harassment around the country, ordered by the projected percentage within each state that had indicated they have been sexually harassed at work.
