Most popular movies on Prime this week

Movie-watching trends appear to be settling into a holding pattern at Amazon Prime Video, as the 10 most popular films on the streamer have remained mostly unchanged week over week. As of April 22, there's only one new film on the list—Guy Ritchie's "Snatch," returning to the top 10 after a week off. But let's dive in and explore some of the other movies that have been captivating Prime Video users for a while now.

"The Exorcist: Believer" has shifted up the list, as has "Sicario," a 2015 action film starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, "Sicario" follows FBI agent Kate Macer (Blunt) as she becomes increasingly drawn into the shadowy war on drugs at the U.S.-Mexico border. Excitement surrounding the recently released "Dune: Part Two" may have sparked interest in Villeneuve's other works—or maybe Prime Video audiences have begun leaning toward war films in general.

After all, Francis Ford Coppola's iconic "Apocalypse Now," a Vietnam War-set adaptation of Joseph Conrad's 1899 novella "Heart of Darkness," is also still among the 10 most popular movies this week. Even if you've seen this 1979 classic film before, it warrants rewatching, as the "redux" version available on Prime Video features nearly an hour of extended footage.

As in previous weeks, the other films on this list are also a mix of action and adventure flicks, though a couple of movies deviate from the trend. To determine the 10 most popular movies on Prime Video this week, Stacker looked at data from Reelgood as of April 22 and incorporated information from IMDb for further insights.
