On his recent press tour for his new 2024 movie "The Fall Guy," actor Ryan Gosling has been peppered with all kinds of silly junket questions. But a more serious recurring one is whether he'd be interested in returning for a sequel to his 2016 comedy "The Nice Guys." In the eight years since its release, the movie has become a popular cult classic, especially among Apple TV+ users this month.
One of the few highly reviewed buddy-cop movies released in the last decade, "The Nice Guys" pits Gosling as a private eye and teams him up with Russell Crowe as a grizzled enforcer. They unwillingly collaborate when a young woman goes missing and soon discover a nefarious conspiracy. "Arrival," Denis Villeneuve's haunting and soulful Oscar-nominated time-travel meditation, boasts a powerful and melancholic performance from Amy Adams. She plays a linguist enlisted by the U.S. military to attempt communication with an extraterrestrial species that has landed on Earth. After experiencing the sun-baked pleasures of "Dune: Part Two," it's no wonder fans are revisiting the auteur's collection.
